Many pet owners view the arrival of spring and summer as an opportunity
to spend more time outside with their dogs, but rarely do they take into consideration
the increased presence of warm-weather nuisances, such as hookworms and roundworms,
which may be potentially dangerous to both pets and family members. A recent survey
found that nearly half of dog owners, 42 percent, do not know that hookworms and
roundworms may cause harmful diseases to family and friends.
Most people are unfamiliar with the threats hookworms and roundworms
may pose to their pets and family. Therefore it is very important for pet owners
to educate themselves about these dangers, and learn what they can do to reduce
the risk to their dogs and their families.
